Gatorade

Myles Garrett is a Gatorade athlete and a sack machine (which is how he got the nickname Sack Master Myles.) He also happens to be a huge comic book fan. And with a nickname like that, we figured this superhuman athlete needed a superhero origin story. We decided to introduce the world to how Myles Garrett became the Greek God that he is, with a twist. This story was released on Gatorade’s social channels one page at a time, every time he sacked a Quarterback during the 2023 NFL season. (10 games into the season, he had 13 sacks which meant 13 pages were released.)

We created 18 pages total, 1 more than his record of sacks for the 2022-2023 season with the expectation that if he could break his record his story would find its conclusion. In addition, we created a limited edition Gx Bottle design featuring a panel of art from the comic book for sale on the Gatorade.com shop.

Myles Garrett, a talented yet humble football player from Texas, leads a relatively ordinary life until one fateful evening. While casually buying a Gatorade from a vending machine, he is struck by a powerful bolt of lightning during an electrical storm. Miraculously, he survives but discovers he has gained incredible superhuman abilities, transforming him into Sack Master Myles.

Deep within the heart of a remote mine, the same violent thunderstorm rages above. A lightning bolt of unprecedented intensity strikes down, imbuing the precious gems within with unimaginable power. These newfound Thunder Gems become vessels of universal control, capable of shaping reality itself. Months later, they’re unknowingly incorporated into the design of the Super Bowl Championship ring. The ring, now containing the mighty gems, is set to become a coveted symbol of triumph for a galactic species who have had premonitions of its powers.

As Myles embraces his newfound powers, a sinister plot unfolds in the football world. Team owner, Lawrence Vanderhorn, becomes the host for a malevolent alien entity. This extraterrestrial being manipulates Vanderhorn, turning him into a puppet for its nefarious schemes. The alien entity possesses Vanderhorn's body and converts the entire football team into an army now known as the "Cosmic Crushers,” desperate to claim the ring that can control the galaxy.

Their victory streak raises suspicion among fans and authorities, but only Myles Garrett sees through the façade and realizes the true threat that looms over the game. The fate of football and the world rests on Sack Master Myles shoulders, and he must summon all his strength, agility, and lightning-infused powers to topple the alien threat and restore balance to the game he loves.
